Overview
This site is operated by Taxidermy SA, a South African taxidermy gallery and studio based in Durban, KwaZulu-Natal, with over 15 years of taxidermy and export experience and nationwide delivery. “We”, “us” and “our” refer to Taxidermy SA. By visiting our site or buying from us, you agree to these Terms of Service and the policies referenced here.
Online store terms
You confirm you are at least 18 years old (or have parental consent), and you will not use our products for any unlawful purpose or violate any laws. Breach of these Terms terminates your access immediately.
General conditions
We may refuse service to anyone for any reason at any time. Content may transmit unencrypted; payment data is always encrypted. You may not reproduce, duplicate, copy, sell or exploit any portion of the Service without written permission.
Legal sourcing & documentation
All specimens sold by Taxidermy SA are legally obtained from game reserves, zoos or government culling programmes, and most animals died of natural causes. Pieces ship with the necessary permits and certificates, and are CITES-compliant where applicable. The permits and documentation accompanying a piece form part of that piece and must stay with it. It is your responsibility to comply with any rules that apply to taxidermy at your own premises or in any onward sale or export.
Pricing & modifications
All prices are quoted in South African Rand (ZAR). A fixed insured courier fee of R950 is added at checkout on every order. Prices are subject to change without notice. We may modify or discontinue any part of the Service at any time.
Products & availability
Most pieces are one-of-a-kind: once a mount, skull or skin sells, it is gone. Every piece is a handcrafted natural specimen, and we make every effort to photograph colour, pose and dimensions accurately, but natural variation in hide, horn and finish is inherent to taxidermy and on-screen colour cannot be guaranteed. We reserve the right to limit sales by geography, customer type or quantity.
Billing & account accuracy
We may refuse or limit any order. Cancellations trigger contact via email or phone. Reseller and trade orders may be limited. You agree to keep account, billing and delivery details current.
Optional tools & third-party links
Third-party tools and links accessible via our site are provided “as is” without endorsement. Review the third party’s own terms before transacting with them. Card and instant EFT payments are processed by PayFast under PayFast’s own terms.
User submissions
Comments, suggestions or feedback you send may be used by Taxidermy SA without compensation or confidentiality. You warrant that content you submit does not infringe IP rights and contains no malicious code.
Personal information
Submitted personal information is governed by our Privacy Policy.
Errors & omissions
We may correct errors and cancel orders post-submission if information proves inaccurate - for example a pricing error or a one-of-a-kind piece that has already sold - with no obligation to update beyond what the law requires. Any amount paid on a cancelled order is refunded in full.
Prohibited uses
- Unlawful purposes or to solicit unlawful acts.
- Violating any international, national or local laws, including wildlife and conservation legislation.
- Infringing intellectual property rights.
- Harassment, abuse, defamation or discrimination.
- Submitting false or misleading information.
- Uploading malware or interfering with site security.
- Scraping or tracking other users’ personal information.
Disclaimer & liability
The Service is provided “as is” and “as available”. We do not warrant uninterrupted, error-free or secure operation.
Nothing here limits any rights you have under the Consumer Protection Act, 2008 (CPA), including sections 55 and 56 (right to safe, good-quality goods that work reliably for their intended purpose).
Subject to applicable law, our aggregate liability is capped at the amount you paid for the order giving rise to the claim. We are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, punitive or consequential damages including lost profits, revenue or data, nor for deterioration of a piece caused after delivery by damp, direct sunlight, pests or improper care.
Indemnification
You agree to indemnify and hold Taxidermy SA and its affiliates, officers, directors, agents and employees harmless from any claim arising out of your breach of these Terms or your violation of any law or third-party right.
Severability & termination
If any provision is found unenforceable, the remainder stands. Either party may terminate this agreement by notice; obligations incurred prior to termination survive.
Entire agreement
These Terms together with the policies on this site constitute the entire agreement between you and Taxidermy SA. Failure to enforce a provision is not a waiver of it.
Governing law & disputes
These Terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of South Africa. Disputes that cannot be resolved through good-faith discussion will be referred to the Magistrates’ Court of competent jurisdiction in South Africa, or the High Court of South Africa where appropriate.
Changes & contact
We may update these Terms by posting changes here. Continued use after changes are posted constitutes acceptance.
