Our promise to you
The Taxidermy SA Buyer Protection Programme is designed so you can buy online with total confidence. If the piece you paid for is not delivered, or arrives materially different from how it was advertised on taxidermysa.co.za, you are protected and entitled to a resolution - a replacement, a professional repair or your money back.
Why you can buy with confidence
- Direct from the studio - you buy directly from Taxidermy SA, an established Durban taxidermy gallery with over 15 years of taxidermy and export experience; there are no third-party sellers to chase.
- Insured delivery on every order - each piece is professionally packed or crated and travels by insured courier nationwide.
- Legally sourced, fully documented - specimens are legally obtained from game reserves, zoos or government culling programmes, and pieces ship with the necessary permits and certificates, CITES-compliant where applicable.
- Secure payment - card and instant EFT payments run through PayFast over SSL; this site never stores your card numbers.
- Data privacy - your personal information is kept confidential, as set out in our Privacy Policy.
- Real premises, real people - Durban gallery at 37 Flatcrown Circle, Westbrook, 4399, and Johannesburg warehouse at Unit 21 Rustivia Industrial Village, 6 Rover Road, Germiston, 1401. Phone / WhatsApp +27 83 741 8231.
What is covered
- Orders paid for in full where the piece is never delivered.
- Pieces that arrive materially different from the listing - wrong piece, wrong species or size, or a condition clearly worse than described.
- Pieces that arrive damaged in transit, reported to us within 48 hours of delivery with photos.
- Pieces that arrive without the permits or documentation described on the listing, where we cannot supply them afterwards.
- Orders cancelled by us that have not been refunded within the stated refund window.
Cover applies to 100% of the product purchase price paid through this website using one of the eligible payment methods below.
What is not covered
- Change-of-mind returns - these are handled under our standard Returns & Refund Policy (30 days, buyer pays return courier and re-crating).
- Natural variation inherent to handcrafted taxidermy - small differences in hide colour, hair pattern, horn shape or finish between photos and the piece.
- Deterioration caused after delivery - damp, direct sunlight, heat, pests (moths, beetles) or improper cleaning of a mount, skin or rug.
- Damage caused by drilling, remounting or moving a piece yourself after delivery.
- Pieces bought anywhere other than taxidermysa.co.za, or paid for by a method we did not advertise at checkout.
- Claims raised more than 30 days after the estimated delivery date.
How to claim - three simple steps
- Contact us first. Email info@taxidermysa.co.za or WhatsApp +27 83 741 8231 with your order number and a short description of the problem (photos help for damage or wrong-item claims).
- We investigate within 3 business days. We will check the courier tracking, the studio and warehouse record and the listing, and come back to you with a resolution proposal.
- Resolution. If the claim is valid you choose: redelivery / replacement, professional repair in our studio, or a full refund of the product price to your original payment method.
Eligible payment methods
Buyer Protection applies to orders paid using the payment methods offered at checkout:
- PayFast - instant EFT, Visa and Mastercard
- Direct EFT (bank transfer) with invoice, using your order number as reference
See Payment Methods for full details on how each option works.
Good to know
- Keep all packaging and crating material until you are satisfied the piece is correct and undamaged - it is required for transit-damage claims.
- Inspect crated full mounts at delivery and note any damage on the waybill before the freight team leaves.
- Keep the permits and certificates that ship with your piece - they are your proof of legal ownership and stay with the piece.
- This programme supplements - and does not limit - your rights under the South African Consumer Protection Act 68 of 2008.
