About Taxidermy SA

Taxidermy SA is an African taxidermy gallery based in Durban, offering museum-quality full mounts, shoulder mounts, skulls and horns, tanned skins and taxidermy décor to collectors, lodges and interior designers across South Africa and the world.

Who We Are

African wildlife, preserved with museum-quality artistry.

Taxidermy SA was founded from a deep love of African wildlife. From our studio and gallery in Westbrook, Durban, our team has spent more than 15 years perfecting the craft of lifelike taxidermy - full mounts, shoulder mounts, half and pedestal mounts, skulls and horns, tanned skins and rugs, taxidermy furniture and curios. Every piece is shaped, set and finished by hand until the posture, the eyes and the coat read true to the living animal.

Our reputation has travelled far beyond KwaZulu-Natal. Collectors, game lodges and interior designers across South Africa and abroad trust us for pieces that are ethically sourced, expertly preserved and carefully crated for the journey. All specimens are legally obtained from game reserves, zoos or government culling programmes - most died of natural causes - and each piece ships with the necessary permits and certificates.

Lifelike Craftsmanship

Over 15 years of taxidermy experience goes into every mount. Anatomy, expression and coat detail are studied and recreated so each piece looks as alive as the day it walked the veld.

Ethical Sourcing

All specimens are legally obtained from game reserves, zoos or government culling programmes, with most having died of natural causes. Pieces ship with the necessary permits and certificates, CITES-compliant where applicable.
