Shipping options & lead times
| Option | Transit (Mon - Fri) | Fee |

| Fixed nationwide insured courier | 3 - 7 working days within South Africa | R950 |
Standard pieces - shoulder mounts, skulls & horns, tanned skins, rugs, curios and most décor - are delivered within 3 - 7 working days of dispatch, to all nine provinces. Outlying areas, farms and game lodges may add 1 - 2 days. Cross-border export is not offered through the online checkout; contact us directly for international enquiries.
Packing, crating & insured courier
Every piece leaves our studio professionally packed by our own team. A single fixed delivery charge of R950 is added at checkout on every order - the same flat rate regardless of size - and every shipment travels fully insured door to door. You receive confirmation and tracking details when your order is dispatched. EFT-paid orders ship only once funds reflect.
How different pieces are prepared for transit:
- Shoulder mounts are boxed with the face, ears and horns individually padded and braced.
- Skulls & horns are wrapped and foam-packed to protect horn tips and nasal bones.
- Tanned skins, hides and rugs are rolled, wrapped and boxed - never folded across the felt.
- Furniture, décor and curios are bubble-wrapped and double-boxed.
- Full mounts and pedestal mounts are secured in custom wooden crates.
Oversized full mounts (and very large pedestal pieces) are crated in our workshop and delivered by specialist freight. We confirm the crating and delivery schedule with you personally after checkout - the R950 fee still applies with no hidden extras.
Collecting your order
Online checkout orders are set up for delivery. Collection from our Durban gallery at 37 Flatcrown Circle, Westbrook, 4399 or our Johannesburg warehouse at Unit 21 Rustivia Industrial Village, 6 Rover Road, Germiston, 1401 is by prior arrangement only. Hours: Monday - Sunday, 08:00 - 17:00.
Cut-off, permits & documentation
Orders placed before 13:00 on a working day usually enter the same-day packing queue. Orders placed after 13:00 or on SA public holidays are processed on the next working day. Each piece ships with the permits and documentation applicable to that specimen, so you have a complete paper trail for legal ownership. If a specific permit must accompany your piece, we finalise the paperwork before dispatch - this is included in the standard lead time for almost all orders, and we will contact you if it adds any delay.
Risk, insurance & inspecting on delivery
Every shipment is insured in transit at our cost. Risk in the goods passes to you once the courier hands the piece over to you (or your agent). Unpack and inspect every delivery on arrival - check horns, ears, noses and finish - and note any damage on the waybill before signing where possible. Photos and an email to info@taxidermysa.co.za within 48 hours of delivery are essential for any in-transit damage claim.
